Secret Generosity
My mind right now is over taken by a new business attitude of goals and success with my new job which is going amazing. However, I still wanted to write what I planned on writing about. Perhaps in my next blog we may see something about positivism in success.
There are tons of secrets and ideas to staying positive and having a great attitude on life. One of the best and naturally fulfilling ways to maintain a good attitude is to just help others at all times. Extend out your hands and your voice for good deeds. Being very generous not with your money but with your time and your actions. You all probably know how good it feels to give and receive gifts right? Buying people things is one of the easiest ways to get your generosity juices flowing. Other ways are buying dinner for someone, helping someone with their homework, or helping someone with a fix it yourself project. But I am talking about little things you can do throughout your whole day, every day. Some things you may do already! Building your life around these secret generosities can really pump a lot of good feelings in you. Some things people may not even notice but you know you are doing a good deed. You can even apply my previous blog about smiles. Smiling at everyone and getting all of those smiles in return is going to make you feel amazing and you very well could have made someone’s day with just that smile. Think of every good deed as making someone’s day and I guarantee you are going to have a better more positive attitude each and every day.
The simplest of things is just opening up the door for someone or holding it open for the person behind us. For some of us we do this all the time naturally. The next time you do it take a moment to acknowledge how it makes you feel. Embrace that positive feeling. Every time you hold the door open for someone take advantage of that feeling, be conscious of your action and your reward is a more positive and happier YOU! Doing these simple good deeds for people can sometimes go unnoticed that’s why they seem to be a secret. The next time you do it think about how it really makes you feel. Think about how you might be making them feel. If they say thank you give them an ever so enthusiastic YOU ARE WELCOME! If they say nothing is where the challenge lies. Our actions are often greeted with a response. But in this instance if they don’t say anything you still know yourself that you were helpful even to someone that may not appreciate it. Treat it as a gesture done when no one is looking, even unnoticed you know very well you did a good deed.
The simplest act of kindness that does not always have an audience is picking up trash from where it does not belong, or just picking something up that fell over. I am not saying to pick up things that are disgusting but your eyes are scanning everything all the time if you see something where it does not belong just pick it up, wash or sanitize your hands if you need to afterwards. When you drop something and someone picks it up for you, you are very thankful right? treat the random piece of garbage or thing you pick up as a thankful gesture to yourself. The secret generosity of a good deed done. Again fully acknowledge this positive feeling, you will want to do it again and again. You would be amazed on how little time it takes to do such simple deeds.
These are just 2 examples of random acts of kindness and generosity. There are tons of ways to help, there are tons of ways to do good deeds. You don’t need to go much farther beyond what is happening in your own life to find ways to help others and help yourself by doing good deeds. You don’t even have to step out of your comfort zone. There are plenty of small and even big ways to secretly apply your generosity. Doing good onto others is always going to make you feel good no matter what. Help anyone and everyone with the small secret things you see in life and you are going to live a happier life and this happiness you carry will brush off anywhere you go. Also, if you are thinking about doing a good deed, JUST DO IT! Thinking about doing things gets you know where and you are going to feel nothing, so if you are already thinking about it JUST DO IT!

Thanks for the awesome reminder. Sometimes, I find myself getting upset with my kids when they interupt something I was trying to get done, when I have the clarity to stop whatever I’m doing and give them my full attention, I become absolutely happy. Uplift others and uplift yourself! I love your blog Marc!
