THIS I WILL DO (Happy New Year)

All around the world people will be celebrating the New Year. Happy New Year to everyone. We all should have New Year resolutions. Everyone should have achievable resolutions. I write to you on the first day of the New Year about mine and may you find inspiration through these words.

My life has been shifting. The feelings of positivism grow stronger within me every day. I used to think my life was hard, I used to blame my past for my present. I was wrong. Today I realize, I will fail, I will fall, I will make mistakes, I will get lazy, I will lose important people, I will get lonely, I will be challenged, But I WILL NEVER GIVE UP! I will succeed, I will rise when I fall, I will learn from my mistakes, I will take needed rest, I will meet new people, I shall cherish those in my company and I will encourage the hardest challenges to get exactly where my life is meant to be.

I Have 3 main objectives in my life right now and a list to achieving each one; find a cruise ship job, fulfill milestones with my blog and efforts toward motivational speaking. There will be a day when all of these fall together with great purpose, but for now I must choose one. The world around me is coming together and showing me how close I am to getting a shipboard cruise ship job, and this I will do. This I will not give up on. My fingers are ready to turn the page on this new chapter of my life. I am setting aside many things in my life for this but through participation of this venture I shall receive so much more in return.

My New Year’s resolution is to get a shipboard cruise ship job as soon as possible. One of many goals! I look back upon this year only with smiles. I have met so many good people, I have done so many new things and I have accomplished so much with myself. I am a very goal oriented person and over Christmas I decided to share this notion with my family. I created chalk boards that simply say “This I Will do,” with simple instructions to chalk on them with short term goals. You can easily make these for yourself out of dry erase boards or just a piece of paper if you don’t want to do a chalk board. Put it in a place where you will look at it every day and when you achieve the goal write a new one. Just this simple thing will add so much success in your life. I have 4 boards of my own of different varieties, but I will show you the ones I created for my family.

Untitled-is I will do1

I rest and work in the shadows of my sanctuary. I can write words of failure, and thrive to wake again. My confidence lies waiting in the dark. The sun shall rise over me and grant me everything I never gave up of myself. I am original, I will remain original. I fear not, the blunders of my mistakes. I stand taller than the stars over all my challenges. I will lie upon the highest peaks and failure will be my foot holes to the top.

I leave you with a song from my favorite band that I have recently been inspired by.

William Shakespeare, Famous Quote Friday

william-shakespeare

“As soon go kindle fire with snow, as seek to quench the fire of love with words.”
William Shakespeare

Well some of you never saw that coming did you? I decided to challenge myself. William Shakespeare, a poet and a play writer, has inspired many through the years with his elegant twists of words and well written plays. I was never a huge fan of Shakespeare as I could never understand what he was saying. However, now that my reading and writing are improving I may have to take a gander at his work more now.

In the suns brightness of our powder filled days, the coming of winter is upon us. A cozy fire breathes just as we do and loves necessity is not just the breaths we take with words but the steps we conquer with our hearts. Fire full of snow is no fire as love with only words is just a story without your actions. There is love in words but there is lasting love within your feet as you step ahead.

That was my explanation of Shakespeare’s quote. Not too shabby I would say! Basically what I have interpreted from his quote is that you cannot fuel a fire with snow. Likewise you cannot achieve true love with only your words. His creative writing even though it is hard to interpret, amazes me. There are so many ways to convey the same idea to people and there are so many ways to receive that idea. The same with love; There are many ways to love and to show love and there are many ways to receive it and to be grateful for it.

Food, Blood and Good Luck

Yesterday gratitude warmed my body as I stepped out into our – 4 temperatures here in Illinois. I am sitting in my car as it warms up and I can’t help but think about all the people that don’t have a warm place to sleep like I do. As I say “I love the cold weather,” those that I am thinking about are way stronger then I am. I have a house and a bed to sleep in and I don’t have to go out in this cold weather if I do not want to. I am not trying to make anyone feel bad but when you are sitting around your table for Christmas dinner take a moment and be grateful for where you are and what you have.

It is too cold to snow! Has anyone heard this before? I had believed in this idea and it makes sense, but on my way to work that all changed. I am listening to some peaceful music taking my routine route to work and I realize little white crystals falling on my windshield as I stop at the traffic light. It is snowing and it was – 4 out. It was coming down so calm and beautiful. Shortly after I noticed the snow I glanced to side to see the activities of 2 playful squirrels dancing around the tree. One of the little squirrel buddies was black. It is not very common around here to see a black squirrel. Some have never seen one and some don’t even believe they exist around here. Yesterday marks the 4th time I have seen a black squirrel just this year. Each time they have brought me good luck and good days. Yesterday was a good day indeed. How many people believe in good luck charms? I think perhaps others may be finding good luck from our black squirrel friends. Check this out, Black Squirrel, unavailable! If anyone can find me a black squirrel plush animal please show me where to get it! 🙂 Nonetheless yesterday was a very productive day, I learned a lot and experienced something new.

With Christmas being TODAY, I would just like to share my experience volunteering at the food pantry this past weekend. We were handing out Christmas dinners donated by members of the church. It is cool to see all the little extras people put in there boxes for the people to take home. The volunteering is of all age levels, kids and adults alike. When you go enough times you really start to get to know those people helping out. I have gone enough times to be able to guide new people in what we do during food pantry days, but there are many there that go way more than I. You start to get to know those that you see receiving these meals as well. Every single individual, couple or family is so grateful for what is offered. It really sheds a lot of positivism in the air. 3 individuals stood out to me the most this time. I could certainly write about each person but I’ll stick to these 3. The first was a middle aged lady that insisted on making eye contact with each person down the line to say thank you and Merry Christmas. An older gentleman did the same thing but he wanted to shake everyone’s hand too. The last one was very touching; this old lady slowly came in by herself, she only had one arm. Extended from that arm was a cane to help her walk. So many thoughts came through my head. What happened, why is she by herself and no one came in with her? I made eye contact and she smiled and I smiled bigger back. “Mame you are all set, the kids (that were lined up waiting to help) will help you bring everything out.” That smile was all I needed to find a little more meaning in this holiday. Now when you are at home munching on your 12 varieties of cookies realize those in our world that don’t have that opportunity and I guarantee every bite will be taken a little more slowly and taste even better.

Outside the food pantry small opportunities for acts of kindness have filled many of my days. Countless times I have give food to homeless people on my lunch hour. One time I just gave some guy my entire lunch. I have stopped and helped in many accidents or break downs. The other night I help a deer with a broken leg. It was sad that it had happened and he may not survive but at least I gave the deer a better chance by getting it out of the middle of the street and calling the authorities (I waited till they got there). Also, every time I went to the store I tried to pay in cash so I could give my change to the Salvation Army. On one occasion this girl was not wearing anything Christmas like so I went inside and I bought her a Santa hat, I hope she wore it! These are all just morsels of kindness. I hope that in my future I can continue to help and maybe even on a bigger scale.

Last but not least I wanted to share something with you guys that I got in the mail the other day.

Mahatma Gandhi Famous Quote Friday

“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

What a fantastic quote! I only saw this for the first time yesterday so I just had to write about it. My brother Darrin introduced this quote to me on one of my Facebook posts. Darrin has recently been helping me edit my post, and he thought that this quote from Mahatma Gandhi went well with what I have recently been writing about! He is certainly correct!

Over time, many people have asked me how I am able to keep positive all of the time. Well it can be challenging at times, so I am certainly not positive 100% of the time but I definitely strive to be closer every day. This quote by Mahatma Gandhi really spells out why I choose to be positive as much as possible. If thinking positive is all I need to do to reach my destiny sign me up! It is that easy; what you bring to yourself, you become, what you think about, you become, what you question yourself about, you get answers to.

Mahatma Gandhi’s concept works on the negative side too. The next time you think negative; just think about where that negativity is going to lead you and instead, try to bring a positive out of it. Negativity will guide you to a destiny that you will not desire, so just strive every day to be closer to being 100% positive all of the time, and let your positive life lead you to Your Destiny.

Have a great weekend everyone! Don’t forget to share this with your friends and like my new Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/UPwithmarc

Ask Yourself the Right Questions

Part of our natural thought process is questioning ourselves. We have thousands of thoughts a day go through our heads and they are all questions. Think about it! You are questioning yourself right now aren’t you? What is on your mind right now? The average person can think about 4 things at one time. Now what are you asking yourself? Are you questioning how you feel? Are you questioning how you are going to finish something? Are you questioning your confidence? The possibilities of your thoughts are endless.

It is natural to ask negative questions and to ask a lot of them without realizing it. Hopefully today we can change that! We ask ourselves questions that obviously coincide with what is happening in our lives. Can I finish this on time? Will I be late? What if I can’t do this? Why can’t I get this person’s attention? Why can’t I find a job? Why can’t I save enough money for this? Why is my relationship falling apart? Why is this person pissing me off? I could keep going but I am sue many of you have experienced similar personal questioning.

Let me go through all those again for you. How can I better use my time? How can I make sure I leave earlier? What can I learn from doing this? How else can I get this person attention? How can I expand my search efforts? How can I budget to save more money? What can I do better to strengthen our relationship? I think this person is having a bad day? There is a positive to every negative question, but we need to train ourselves recognize it constantly.

Start off by paying close attention to your thoughts. When a negative thought comes out just correct yourself. The more you do this the more natural it will become to start asking the right questions to yourself. The more positive questions you put in your head the more hope you are giving yourself for a more fulfilling future.

Take this opportunity to let Anthony Robbins better explain this concept to you.

Your challenge for today is to analyze your thoughts. What kind of questions are you asking yourself? How can you learn from the negative experiences of your day?

Thank you very much. Have a great day and don’t forget to like my new Facebook page.

Zig Ziglar Famous Quote Friday

“Anything worth doing was worth doing poorly – until I could learn to do it well.”

Zig Ziglar

zig-ziglar-ss

Such great words from one of the greatest motivational speakers ever. I think I said this before but I will say it again; Zig Ziglar, up until the day he passed away was reading 3 hours a day. That is impressive but that is also how he was able to impress all of us!

There are many things we want to try in life. For some of us there are many things we try and don’t do very well.  There are many of us who will give up and move on. Been there done that, tried it now it time to move on to something new. How many of you have done really poorly with something you truly love doing? Maybe you are terrible at golf but you absolutely love the game. Maybe you just graduated college and you are having trouble in your first career job. You are doing poorly but you have that drive to not give up! Don’t give up, stick it out and try again and again. Try it as many times as you need to until you learn to do it well.

I used to be terrible at grammar; you may be treated to some of those errors in my post today. 🙂 I keep writing though. The more I write the better I get. I don’t have to be full of myself to see through time and over 100 posts later that my writing is improving. I am enjoying writing and more and more people seem to enjoy it as well. With this blog experience I just jumped right in. I know more people are going to respect and get more out of my writing with perfect grammar, but until I reach a point of perfection this will have to do. You know that perfection can never be achieved right? The great thing to be motivated by this is, there is always something to improve on, something you can do better. “Practice makes perfect”, just as we have heard all our lives and perfection is what you make of it. Perfection is not a stopping point, it is a milestone for what it coming up next.

Think about it, what are you doing in your life right now that needs improvement? Are you willing to keep doing it until you see improvements? Are you willing to keep doing it if you do not see improvements right away? This is one of my new all time favorite quotes and I hope it is something you can use in your life as well.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for your support and following. Be sure to give your friends a chance to see this too, please share my blog with them.

This weekend I am going rock climbing with the Boy Scouts. I am not very graceful or skilled with it yet but I am going to do it again and again anyways. I do have plenty of motivation, I love Boy Scouts, I love my troop, and I was never known to quit. A lot of  the boys look up to me and I need to set an example for them to not give up on things they love in their lives.

Secret Money

With the holidays approaching each day we worry more about money, and having enough of it; enough to buy all the gifts we want and enough to pay all the bills. Some of you despise the holidays because you cannot afford to buy gifts.

Let me shut the holidays off for a moment. Some of us are in constant worry about money, for a variety of reasons. I recently reread “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, and below I have included an excerpt from her book, about money.  I certainly recommend reading this book if you have not already. It pulls together many great concepts to try, like the Law of Attraction.

To attract money, you must focus on wealth. It is impossible to

bring more money into your life when you are noticing you do not

have enough, because that means you are thinking thoughts that

you do not have enough. Focus on not enough money, and you will

create untold more circumstances of not having enough money.

You must focus on the abundance of money to bring that to you.

You have to emit a new signal with your thoughts, and those

thoughts should be that you currently have more than enough. You

really do need to call your imagination into play and make believe

you already have the money you want. And it is so much fun to do!

You will notice as you pretend and play games of having wealth

that you feel instantly better about money, and as you feel better

about it, it will begin to flow into your life.

(Rhonda Byrne “The Secret”)

Sounds kind ridiculous at a first glance doesn’t it? It really isn’t. As I have said in the past, nothing is ever going to work if you don’t believe in it first. Now if you want to become rich overnight with only the thought that you will be rich over night that is ridiculous. This concept of already thinking you have enough money happens over time.  It is something you need to stick out, have faith and the right attitude, and you will see results. All results will certainly vary person to person, depending on your efforts with your new attitude toward money. If you need more money in your life, it starts right inside your head and eventually will manifest itself in to the extra cash you need. It is all about the Law of Attraction which Rhonda Byrne, Anthony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Zig Ziglar and many others have talked about. What you think about you draw to yourself. With money, if you constantly are worried about paying your bills you will always be worried about paying your bills. Get in the frame of mind that you have enough money to pay your bills and things will start to turn around. It works that way with all scenarios involving money.

This concept of Money and the Law of Attraction has worked for many people I know, including my sister, who I cherish very much. She struggled with money for so long. Financial issues, employment issues, and she dug herself out simply by following the advice of Rhonda Byrne. Rhonda has helped my sister in many other ways as well; She is more financially stable, she is in better health, and she is in a deservingly outstanding marriage with one of the greatest guys she has ever meet.

When I first read “The Secret” I was overwhelmed and skeptical but once I started to believe, things started happening to me, and for me. As far as money, I too was a person who was always in a struggle for money; I have been up and down all my life. But I first truly noticed changes in my life on the subject of money when I went back to work for a previous employer. I am getting paid the same now as I was before and life has drawn me back to work there. I have also been fortunate enough to make even more money on the side for multiple things as well.  Now, I am not rich or completely out of debt but I started this wave of attraction by simply visualizing a life where my bills are paid, where I can do what I want, go where I want and buy what I want. Keep those positive thoughts dominant in your mind. I was able to save enough money to fix some expensive things on my car. I am now able to buy things to help me boost my path forward to motivational speaking and working on a cruise ship. I have been able to do some fun things that my friends have invited me to. I am so grateful for the life I lead and what and who I have in it. I hope everyone knows that a life of gratitude is a positive life indeed.

So if you find yourself living pay check to pay check, not able to pay your bills or even find a job, what do you honestly have to lose by giving in to the “Laws of Attraction” and manifest this extra money into your life. Start today, start right now! Have faith and patience as everyone’s time frame with success is different.

Thank you so much. As always, thanks for following and supporting my blog. Please LIKE my new Facebook page and please share it with your friends. https://www.facebook.com/UPwithmarc
