2017 In Review

I decided to put together a picture video review. I am really glad I did too. I was having fun putting it together and it was not till I watch the video myself that I got really excited. I have been down on myself for not achieving the one goal I set out to achieve. I have been really beat down about so many things this past year. All of that negative has clouded up my head and this video was a nice reminder of all the things I have done and accomplished. I hope you enjoy watching it. Some of the pictures may need explanation but every one of them does mean something important to me! HAVE FUN! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

3 years ago today!

3 years of blogging and so many goals achieved. So many new goals and new experiences. The best part is there are more goals to come, more adventures to live, and more great people to meet! So excited to have kept up with this blog for so long. I was never a big writer before but practice makes perfect! I do not strive to be the greatest writer ever and my grammar and quick writing can show for that, but I do strive to make a positive difference in our world! My writing and Ideas can show for that!

This is where it all started: https://upwithmarc.com/2012/08/29/hello-world/

I LOVE ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORT ME. I SEE GREAT THINGS IN OUR FUTURES!

So much gratitude,

UPwithmarc

Variety Friday! (NEW BLOG CHANGES)

All new Variety Friday!

I wrote about this once before but this has to be my most favorite quote so far on my journey of change: “Anything worth doing was worth doing poorly-until I can learn to do it well.” – Zig Ziglar.

Past Post

I try so hard to keep my post short and sweet but sometimes I still amaze myself how much I could say and still have to say about Ultra Positivism. This blog is a living organism of my life and I share bits and pieces of it indirectly all the time in my posts about positivism. There is no GPS on my life, but you better be certain I will continue to leave a trail for those to follow and teach me new things. I started this blog out of heart break and just look at where I have come from that moment. I was not a writer, there was a day I was anything but positive, there was a day were life was not worth living. UP to today I built a never give up attitude, and I am surrounding it with Ultra Positivism from around the globe. I have all of you to be grateful for that. I may have uninspiring posts sometimes, my grammar may flounder in my rushed attempts to post, I may miss a week of posting here and there, I may fall to my knees in tears, but IT IS ALL WORTH IT. I may not know where I am going or where I may end up but I know for a fact it all adds to my tale of life and slowly I will pick up inspired and inspiring people along the way. I don’t know when I will become a motivational speaker or what I will even say but if just one day I can stand in front of hundreds or more, deliver life’s message and change the lives of each one I will have learned to do it well.

I enjoy Famous Quote Friday but it is time for change. There is more out there, more then I have time to share. I don’t want to leave Fridays for just quotes. I will start to include video clips, music, pictures, other blogs, or Facebook pages that inspire me. I start today with a song.

This song I have had for years and only in the last couple days did I search for the meaning of the title. I have also lost count of how many times I have listened to this song and how many times it continues to inspire me.

“Shibumi” by Amethystium
Listen to it. Give your full attention to it and nothing else. While you listen think about your life. This song is to amazing for words to describe but I did find an Urban Dictionary definition to the word “Shibumi”

A term from the Edo period in Japan refering to places, persons, or things of effortless perfection. Anything that is Shibumi is noble and fulfilling in a manner that is not shaped exclusively by analytical thought. Simply put, a state of great refinement underlying commonplace appearances.

If I had to pick an important post this one is it. This is the one I want EVERYONE to share. For the sake of you, others and myself, help me find great things in life by helping me spread my message of Positivism everywhere. I cannot pay you I cannot force you but each and every one of you I owe a debt of gratitude for helping me share this blog and this journey with the world. I want to make a name for myself and with every post and every share I can come closer to my dream.

PLEASE SHARE this post with those that you know. Those that see my blog for the first time share it with those you know as well. There are great things to come with https://upwithmarc.com/ and I look forward to inspire many and be inspired in return by each and every one of you. You can never achieve a great goal in life on your own and If there was a way I can help you I will.

As some, most or maybe all of you know, I drove up to Toronto for an all day group interview for a long sought after shipboard cruise ship position. I would like to talk about my trip there.  I know my blog went from posts about positivism to events of my life, however, my life has taken such an overwhelming positive direction and so many great things are happening with my life. Sharing them really amounts to share more about positivism. For the regular followers, all those family and friend that support the great changes in my life and those new to my life and my blog I thank you. What you put out into the world you get back. The more and more positive I share out into the world the more there is that seriously comes back. For me it is happening. I have looked at all these new positives in my life with gratitude, a blessing in disguise, and just plan good luck. I realized last Wednesday, those are all true but it is also those positives I have given out coming back to me. When you hear great sayings and great quote and see that they apply directly to your life it brings and chill of happiness through your body that is unmatched.

So I was heading up to Toronto for this amazing interview opportunity, I brought my Himalayan salt rock and my lucky black squirrel. I decided to make a detour to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. The drive was easy and beautiful, well worth the trip for sure. So many people talk about how beautiful the Niagara Falls are in the summer, but the beauty in the winter is just another spectacular canvas for mother nature.

Now on to Toronto, found were my Interview event was then found my hotel. I checked in and went for a walk. I was on a search for a famous Canadian dish, Poutin! It is traditional fries with gravy and cheese curds, but they have entire restaurants with many varieties of Poutin, I even found vegetarian options. You name it, they are putting it on their fries. I love fries…who doesn’t? On my way to and from my glorious Poutin experience I realized I was in China town of Toronto and literally right outside the main downtown area. The diversity of individuals was amazing. Everyone was so nice. I rarely heard a horn honk and their train cars went right down the main streets. The graffiti was actually inspirational instead of obnoxious.

So comes the big day, and the walk to were the event was. I am used to the high winds and arctic blast and snow from Chicago so I bundled up in preparation. It was snowing heavily and intermittently windy, but all an all the walk was a piece of cake. I was wearing dress shoes the whole walk and I was actually disappointed that my socks never even got wet! I was anticipating having to dry them. Most of the people who were at the interview were Canadian, obviously! They were amazed that I walked. I was baffled, I said “Um I am in Canada right? you guess are used to this kind of weather I thought?”

The Interview event was all day and amazing. There was about 30 of us taking in tons of information and participating in many individual and group activities. It funny that I say this but I did so much research beforehand that hardly anything I heard was new information. I had hoped to convey that I was well prepared and eager to participate and nail this job. At the end we had to give a presentation to promote a product. This was a huge key to the job. During mine a very interesting thing happened. I messed up my presentation in my eyes but I just kept it going and kept it strong. Now what happened during my presentation was amazing. I was tuned in on both of the recruiters that were there and I could feel their opinions of me click over to a good impression! I actually paused because the connection was so strong and caught myself off guard. That was a great feeling for me but not a %100 you are hired just yet.

Let me rewind just a bit, I got caught up on the actually interview but the people who were there are amazing. A few people from around the world and 2 others from the United States.  Sitting right next to me was a former Chicago Fire soccer player. If you don’t know I am a big Chicago Fire fan so that was amazing. Then there was a girl I had met there from Canada with a fantastic name. Her name was Geneva Hug. Yes, now you know where the title came from. It was such a unique and beautiful name, and a wonderful individual. It was a name that was hard to forget and if she sees this I hope she does not mind my use of her name! It was so nice to meet Kim Kyle and Greg Scott the recruiters, they had such fantastic personalities.

The deed is now done, the interview is done, I headed back to my hotel rewardingly stuffed my face with more Canadian cuisine all that is left now is to wait! The next morning I started my trek home. Back in the states I stopped in Michigan for lunch and check my email on my phone. There was already an email from Kim. She wrote” I am fairly confident you will join pretty fast…. Welcome aboard Marc.” I almost spit out my lunch. I was expecting to wait a week but here it is. I had to call just to be sure. I was not even home yet, she was not even home yet and here it is. I have purchased reading material and cruise company reference guides. I was exhausting even the internet’s amount of information on getting a cruise ship job. I was applying nonstop, each effort got better and better. I was networking like crazy. I punched through so many challenges in this life changing opportunity. It was long and hard, but I never lost hope. I could feel everything start to come together, I could feel myself narrowing in on success. I AM HIRED!

The support from family and friend is and has been amazing. I posted of my success on Facebook and the congratulations that came in really surprised me. There are so many people following this journey of mine it really warmed my heart. Not even my best day in the blog world can rival the attention I am still getting from all of the congratulations. I am so grateful for so much support and encouragement.

The biggest reason people go for this job is to travel and make money. Those are bonuses for me but the main reason for me was to meet new people, see new cultures of positivism around the world. Geneva Hug, though we did not say much to each other, is the start of my path to meeting more wonderful people around the world.

I have the job but the deal is not sealed, I now wait to be assigned to a ship. I also have to pass a very extensive physical examination and gather enough money to start this venture. I will figure it out and I will succeed. I have come too far to fail now but once on board a new set of challenges will be presented. I AM READY!

By the way this was the short version. So much has happened just on my trip to Canada alone. All signs in my life are pointing in the direction I am going and it certainly helps keep me going. Thank you very much everyone for all your support. Please take a little time to go and like my Facebook and follow more positivism from Up With Marc.

UPWITHMARC’S FUTURE

Just now, I completed 7 seasons, 178 episodes of Star Trek Next Generation. I must take a break before I continue forward with the Star Trek series. What to do, what to do? I intend to begin learning everything I can to bring https://upwithmarc.com/ into the world of podcasting with the new equipment and software I have purchased. As an added bonus German speaking software is on its way to me now!

Can I bring UP With Marc, podcasting, and a new world of different languages together to share all of the worlds positivism in one place? Can I bring all I have learned and will learn in front of the podium of the world as a motivational speaker? Sounds big, sounds like some great goals to work for! Sounds like YOU need to stick around not only to see how far I can go but I will need all of your help and support to get me there.

Right now the path to discovery is slow and hard. I will continue to be grateful for everyone’s support as we all take the journey to a more positive place UP With Marc.

So Grateful, I love all of you, and thank you!

Bathtub Meditation

I know I usually post every other Wednesday, but I have so many great things to share with all of you these days. On my quest to love everything life has to offer I have tried many things. The best part about trying new things is it arises ideas and opportunities to do more new things.

I want to draw a quick bath(path!) to what I want to talk about today. I have been exploring different worship ceremonies. The one that is speaking most to me right now has more of a spiritual essences than religious. This spiritual venture has lead me to the ideas of meditation. I explored a few option of meditation and was unsuccessful at the time. I was recently introduced to Carol Kettley Rushton thru a mutual friend. She specializes in Reiki Healing and Spiritual Guidance. She gave me my first card reading ever. This was by far an amazing and enlightening experience. It for sure sparked a new friendship with another positive individual. I told Carol about my meditation attempts and she had suggested to combine the things I love into meditation.

Carol suggested what I will just coin as bathtub meditation. I love relaxing music and I love being in the water so it seemed like a very fitting suggestion. Now I want everyone to visualize the size of their bathtub…. Now picture a 6’2″ person fitting in there! HA! needless to say I fit myself in the tub!

I will tell you what I did, you are welcome to try this or come up with a variation of your own. I made myself a play list to go at least an hour with wordless relaxing music, you can make yours as long or as short as you wish. I played it thru head phones to cancel out any other noises. I ran a very hot bath with some scented bath balls. I turned the lights off so it was completely dark. I got myself in a good position in the tub and played my music. I shut my eye and I began to sweat and imagined that every bead of sweat was a release of thought until I was thoughtless and combining myself with the flow of the music. I just relaxed until the music stopped and IT WAS AMAZING!

This bathtub meditation was one of the most amazing personal positive experiences I have ever had. The music stopped and it actually took some time to come back to reality. I was so relaxed I could barely stand (literally)! Needless to say I slept well and the days to follow were very positive and relaxing as well. If you do try this please let me know how it works out for you.

I would like to show my gratefulness for the events and suggestions and pass on Carol’s information to you. She does so many great things and I definitely plan to go back and try this Reiki Healing with her next time.

If you could do me a great favor go and like her on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/CrystalRanchReikiHealing. Her and I would be very grateful.

Some of the things I have experienced through Carol’s guidance I never believed in before. However, my experience in trying it has brought something in clear focus for me. You will never benefit from something you don’t believe in. You can only benefit from what you do believe in! We should open ourselves up to try new things all our lives, you never know what kind of positive impacts you will encounter.

I hope all of you will check our Carol’s sites. Also, I challenge all of you to show a little faith in something you are skeptical about and see if any good comes from it.

Have a great day and thank you for following me.

If Money Did Not Matter

Today’s post is a journey. I hope that you all have the time to take this short journey. It will inspire you, give yourself the time to read on. Now I know some of my posts can be a bit lengthy but the way I see it if you make time to read you make time to succeed! Now who doesn’t want success? If you complete this small journey today I only ask one thing. Tell me one major thing you are working on or working toward in your life. A question to be refined at the end.

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be? Be an astronaut, a chef, or even the president. What did you want to do with your life? Scale the tallest mountain, meet someone famous, or even travel the world. How many of your dreams have been fulfilled? One of the main things holding us back from what we desire most is money.

let me introduce you to Alan Watts a philosopher, writer, and speaker(play video below)

What if money did not matter? Your options are limitless, you can be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. Our own human nature and society has groomed us into the idea of earning a living to just simply earn a living. Very few of us go on earning a living doing what we love. Most of us continue doing what we are doing just to continue doing what we are doing. No that is not a typo think about it! Are you in a job just for the money? Do you wish you could be doing something different? Stop wishing and make it happen. This is your life.

This whole concept has been a huge part of big changes in my life and only now has it come into the light for me. I have been a professional graphic designer for over 10 years and all of the sudden I lost my passion for it. I was always looking for that better job with better pay. Aside from design my ultimate goal has always been to become a motivational speaker. I never saw money in it so it got kind of lost inside me. The struggles of life have surfaced it and brought back a beautiful dream. My life path is changing to so many wonderful things I can hardly keep up. People keep asking what my main view point will be as a motivator. I have Ideas of course but I still don’t have a solid answer.I do however have a monetarily free field of vision to take me there to find out.

None of us seem to give ourselves enough credit and that is were our dreams fall short. You have to believe in yourself and you have to believe in the path that takes you to the things you dream about. I refer you to another video of a song I posted awhile ago. I will be standing in the hall of fame and even if it is one person at a time everyone will know my name.

here is the song and post https://upwithmarc.com/?s=hall+of+fame

I can go on for hours about all the new thoughts and things in my life but everything I say and what Alan Watts says in his video is basically FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS! If you put money first in your life you are never going to achieve your goals past looking for more money. You can be who you want to be if you believe in it enough, if you are determined enough. Your life will evolve around your passions. Love your life and do what you want with it.

NOW IT IS YOUR TURN! Post a comment of one thing (or several) you would like to do if money did not matter.

The inspiration for this post was started from Upworthy where I found the video by Alan Watts. What a truly amazing site.

I have also added share buttons on the bottom of my posts. If you like what you read, please share this with your friends.

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE I am grateful for your following and support. Enjoy the rest of your week.

FREE LOVE $1

YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT! 🙂

All our lives we meet amazing people and see amazing things. Several years ago today Michael Morris simply wanted to brighten peoples day on his birthday for just $1. His time with us was short but beautiful. I was not fortunate enough to meet this wonderful person Michael but I was however lucky to meet his sister Andi Morris who is building something wonderful, in Michaels memory, to brighten peoples days. I will be brightening peoples day today and Andi would be eternally grateful for others who participate as well. Andi is carrying out a tradition that has grown so much in such a short time.

FREE LOVE $1 EVENT

Andi MorrisWrites:

In honor of Mike’s birthday, we will be continuing a tradition that he started. He called his event “Free Love One Dollar” and it was simply a means to brighten a stranger’s day. Participation is easy:

***Get some $1 bills (even if you can only afford 1!)
***Get an envelope for each dollar and decorate it (You should probably include the phrase Free Love One Dollar or in memory of Mike Morris or both and/or other encouraging words and pictures, so people understand the dollar is there to make them smile)
***Take the dollar in the envelope and place it on a car’s windshield. Some ideas for venues are hospital parking lots, nursing home parking lots, churches, etc. The possibilities are endless, but there are a few places to avoid: mailboxes (that’s a felony), private property, illegal things 😛
***Take pictures! Make it fun, bring lots of people, race each other, smile 🙂
***Post pics and share stories

We are encouraging EVERYONE to invite ANYONE!!! This event is to share love in the memory of Mike. He would love to see everyone celebrate his day with happiness and sharing love with anyone and everyone, just as he always did. This can be a HUGE event! Invite friends in other states and countries to share the fun on September 25 🙂

In loving memory of Michael Jason Morris

This is last minute notice for some of you but as you can see it is super easy if you would like to participate.

Let us all brighten someone’s day today and have fun doing it!

100th POST

Intellectual: Developed or guided by the knowledge rather than by personal experience.

I don’t want to live with my nose in a big text book drumming up tons of facts. I love reading for sure so don’t get me wrong, but I want to live outside in the real world experiencing and experimenting with success and failure. I don’t need a masters degree to prove anything. I don’t need to be monetarily rich. I certainly don’t want to brain wash you telling you what to do with your life.

I want to share my positive view points with those willing to read or listen. I want to hear everyone’s opinion too! I want to help everyone I can in any way I can. I have lost so much in my life but gained so much more. The success I seek in life now will never just fall on my lap, I will have to work very hard for it. There will be many downs on my path but when I am going up I am like a positive firecracker.

One thing about me that some of you may know. I have a hard time to this day accepting compliments. Or thinking of myself. That being said I want to take this moment to be a little full of myself in asking something from all of you. Now some of you may not know me in person, some of you I have just met, some of you I have known for many years, some of you are very good friends and some of you have known me for 32 years. I want everyone willing, either now or in the near future to leave a comment on this blog post. Not just any comment, a comment about me. Think back as far or close as you want. Think of a time I have helped you with something important, think of a time I have inspired you, hey maybe even a time I changed your life. In as many words as you want tell me about it. For those that don’t know me very well yet, maybe think of a blog or quote I posted that particularly inspired you and tell me about it. If you don’t have anything to say that is alright, stick around because the future holds many more positive things in it and we are going to live up to all of them together. It is really important to me that you comment. If it is something you do not wish to share in public you can always email me instead (upwithmarc@yahoo.com). I am not in any contest or looking for an ego boost I merely want to gather enough positivism to carry me through the next 100 posts.

I am grateful for all of you who share this blogging journey with me and hope you stick around so all of us together can keep making this a bigger positive experience! Have a great week and I look forward to hearing from you.

Selena Gomez FQF

“Being yourself is all it takes. If you want to impress someone, don’t be someone else just be yourself.”
Selena Gomez

Everyone knows Selena Gomez. Started out on “Barney and Friends” and now she is a famous actress, singer and fashion designer. She is 21 now and I wish I could date when she was quoted. Her words are so undemanding but very profound at the same time. Receiving what you want, getting where you want to be and being with who you want can all certainly fall under simply being yourself. What better person to be though? Originality is so important. For me I don’t want to be defined as part of a stereotyped group of people, I want to be defined as Marc Meyer! In this case I would much like http://www.upwithmarc.com to be seeping through every way possible of who I am! Positivism is taking over my life and I just want to share it with others. Some can’t handle the ultra positivism but those that can continue to motivate me again and again.

.

Who out there are we trying to impress and for what reason? If you are impressing people by doing something that is not in your nature you realize you have to keep doing that? Are you willing to keep doing something that you don’t feel 100% about just for the sake of your image? You want people to enjoy who you are when you are not even trying. Build up your friends, followers and audience with your own thoughts,  actions and interests. This concept of being yourself is so simple and so easy, I am not sure why people choose to follow the paths of others.

.

Be yourself today and every day. Make a lasting impression on the world with your life! Stand out by being original not someone we already know. LOVE YOUR LIFE, treat it as such!

.

This is my 99th post, I am so excited for the post I have lined up for Wednesday, my 100th post! be sure to check it out.
