“Either you decide to stay in the shallow end
of the pool or you go out in the ocean.”
Basically what Christopher Reeve says is you either take the easy way or you challenge yourself. Challenge yourself in deeper waters, go down a road less traveled, go where no one has gone before, or conquer your fears! Jump into your world and get wet. Live your life the way your heart tells you to do every day! Not only can you travel far out on the ocean but you can go deep down too. Perhaps the depths of the ocean represent your mind. Dive into your own mind and listen. Life is what you make of it and I am going to make mine a positive one.
I was once afraid of the water. Now I love the water, I worked on the ocean, I live by the ocean, I listen to the ocean, and I love the ocean. That shallow end of the pool is my past, and the ocean is my present as I swim toward my future.
Have a great day everyone and may your weekend be full of positive adventures.
All new Variety Friday!
I wrote about this once before but this has to be my most favorite quote so far on my journey of change: “Anything worth doing was worth doing poorly-until I can learn to do it well.” – Zig Ziglar.
I try so hard to keep my post short and sweet but sometimes I still amaze myself how much I could say and still have to say about Ultra Positivism. This blog is a living organism of my life and I share bits and pieces of it indirectly all the time in my posts about positivism. There is no GPS on my life, but you better be certain I will continue to leave a trail for those to follow and teach me new things. I started this blog out of heart break and just look at where I have come from that moment. I was not a writer, there was a day I was anything but positive, there was a day were life was not worth living. UP to today I built a never give up attitude, and I am surrounding it with Ultra Positivism from around the globe. I have all of you to be grateful for that. I may have uninspiring posts sometimes, my grammar may flounder in my rushed attempts to post, I may miss a week of posting here and there, I may fall to my knees in tears, but IT IS ALL WORTH IT. I may not know where I am going or where I may end up but I know for a fact it all adds to my tale of life and slowly I will pick up inspired and inspiring people along the way. I don’t know when I will become a motivational speaker or what I will even say but if just one day I can stand in front of hundreds or more, deliver life’s message and change the lives of each one I will have learned to do it well.
I enjoy Famous Quote Friday but it is time for change. There is more out there, more then I have time to share. I don’t want to leave Fridays for just quotes. I will start to include video clips, music, pictures, other blogs, or Facebook pages that inspire me. I start today with a song.
This song I have had for years and only in the last couple days did I search for the meaning of the title. I have also lost count of how many times I have listened to this song and how many times it continues to inspire me.
“Shibumi” by Amethystium
Listen to it. Give your full attention to it and nothing else. While you listen think about your life. This song is to amazing for words to describe but I did find an Urban Dictionary definition to the word “Shibumi”
A term from the Edo period in Japan refering to places, persons, or things of effortless perfection. Anything that is Shibumi is noble and fulfilling in a manner that is not shaped exclusively by analytical thought. Simply put, a state of great refinement underlying commonplace appearances.
If I had to pick an important post this one is it. This is the one I want EVERYONE to share. For the sake of you, others and myself, help me find great things in life by helping me spread my message of Positivism everywhere. I cannot pay you I cannot force you but each and every one of you I owe a debt of gratitude for helping me share this blog and this journey with the world. I want to make a name for myself and with every post and every share I can come closer to my dream.
PLEASE SHARE this post with those that you know. Those that see my blog for the first time share it with those you know as well. There are great things to come with https://upwithmarc.com/ and I look forward to inspire many and be inspired in return by each and every one of you. You can never achieve a great goal in life on your own and If there was a way I can help you I will.
Share it, link it, copy and past it. Whatever you have to do. PLEASE help me spread the word.
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.
I discovered Les Brown only a few weeks ago. He encompasses who I want to be. He talks about goals, change, greatness and positivism. Goals are my life and big changes have become part of my life as well. Les Brown is a motivational speaker inspiring people to follow their dreams. His famous phrase is “it’s possible.” He is correct, for all of us it is possible. Go for everything you want in life, shoot for the moon. You are going to discover so much inspiration on your journey and even if you don’t get there you still know you are great and you earned every part of your life. You will still land among the stars.
You don’t hear about when the tears drop from my face. You don’t hear about the negativity I fight with to stay positive. You don’t hear about many of the challenges I face through change. Every bit of it exists in my life. I am human I make mistake, I fail, I fall, but in the end of the challenges I stand in victory, be it big or small, because I am shooting for the moon. With my never give up attitude and my will to always do my best, I always learn ways to be more positive about my life and the lives of others around me. Love your life, love your journey and love the destinations you reach for.
If you have 4:30 minutes you really should watch this sample of Les Brown. Have a great weekend, I love all of you.
“I don’t care how much power, brilliance or energy you have, if you don’t harness it and focus it on a specific target, and hold it there you’re never going to accomplish as much as your ability warrants.”
– Zig Ziglar
I think by the end of my life I will have talked about every quotable phrase Zig Ziglar has ever had. I love this guy just as much as I love goals. You can accomplish anything you want in life but if you don’t stay focused and go for it with all you have, you will never get there. If you are not a person with goals you need to get some. You have dreams right? Turn those dreams into goals. How are you going to achieve your dreams? What goals will you need to get there? Start out small then you can start to feel that positive energy inside of you when you reach a goal. Then make bigger goals and see how you feel. Now harness that energy when you start aiming for your biggest goals! As hard as it is to get there and as hard as you worked toward it, when you stand in the ora of your accomplishments you will then see the full potential of your life. So start making goals for yourself and start living you life.
“Everyday of our lives is epic.”
What are you doing today? What will you see today? what will you say today? Every single day of our lives is brand new. We can choose to waste it with a bad attitude and dramatic negative news from around the world or we can grab everything good from the day and make it epic. When you don’t feel amazing each day that is up to you. We all fall under unfortunate circumstances but going into those issues with the right attitude is what can make your crumby day epic. Choose to inspire yourself and others everyday. Choose to reach for that goal until you achieve it. Search from within. Go after the impossible. Someone said it could not be done, where is the harm to continue to try it? Your life is not over until you take your last breath and until that day if you don’t set out to make every breath of your life epic, you are missing out on life. Turn what may not be into what will be.
I strongly encourage you to take the time to watch this video of Diana Nyad.
The very title of this video is another quote in itself, “Never, ever give up.”*Diana shows so much gratitude with her accomplishment. Some of her last words in the video were “I didn’t do it, we did it.”* It was a team of people that accomplished this amazing swim not just her alone. When we work together we can accomplish great things, any of us can, “Find a way.”* In just 15 minutes Diana has inspired me so much more then an other video I have seen.
Have an epic day. Follow my blog and like my Facebook for an even more positive world.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
So many people perceive failure as a bad thing. Failure makes us stronger. Failure makes us smarter. You cannot succeed without failing. You can fail 10,000 times and still succeed. If there was no failure success would not exist.
Thomas Edison’s quote is about not giving up. He did not acquire his success and fame by giving up. He was determined with his inventions. Everything he tried that did not work only brought him closer to success. It is all about attitude. Are you ready to go out there in the world and fail? Are you ready to pull in more success than ever before? Then be ready to fail.
Seriously it’s just that simple, more failures equals more success! Don’t be afraid to fail, don’t be afraid to take risks, and don’t be afraid to learn. Instead be prepared to learn all you can out of each failure in your life.
You are not going to fail on purpose you are going fail from trying…trying your best. What are you going to learn today? How will you fail? Take risks and step out of your comfort zone today and tomorrow will be your success.

Just a reminder next week I will not be posting. Thank you very much to all of my loyal followers and those new to Up With Marc!
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
– Thomas Carlyle
This Scottish Philosopher really spells out the importance of goals in our lives. If we don’t have goals our life goes nowhere. Goals give our life direction, just as a ships rudder guides it through the sea.
A ship without a rudder would just float aimlessly through the waters. No idea where it was going and what it will encounter. There is no telling, with the lack of direction, if the boat will sink or stay afloat. Relate all that to your life. Without any goals you will go nowhere in life. Without goals I would not be anywhere close to where I am in life: I would not be an Eagle Scout, I would not be changing careers, I would not have so many good people in my life, I would not have experienced as much as I have so far, I would not have hope to continue to experience more and I would not have the very positive attitude that writes this blog. Positivism is the rudder for my blog, so far it has taken me farther than I have ever been before.
Find goals in your life, find direction in your life, give your life meaning. The only difference between you and a ship is someone else uses that rudder to guide it, YOU control your own rudder, YOU decide where you life is going.

My simple goal is to spread positivism. Like my Facebook and share it with your friends.
“The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude.”
Just awesome! Given this is the first famous quote of the New Year, William James’s words seemed very appropriate. My friend actually showed me this quote just yesterday, and I instantly through my other quote aside.
William James was an American Philosopher, Psychologist, and Physician. He was one of the leading thinkers of the 19th century, and one of the most influential philosophers of all time. Perhaps his discovery is one of the greatest of all time. It puts so much reality into perspective. If each one of us believed in ourselves and carried a better attitude, can you imagine how that would alter the entire world as a whole? With ourselves it is so simple, you want a good life have a good attitude. This is precisely what I have been working on, I am trying to carry a more positive life style and I am filling it with positivism. Things come to me easier and easier as I gain more and more confidence in my attitude. I am on a quest to love everything in life and with the right attitude I will.
What kind of attitude will you take into 2014 with you?
If you have not already be sure to like my new Facebook page if you have not already, and share it with your friends.
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”
What a fantastic quote! I only saw this for the first time yesterday so I just had to write about it. My brother Darrin introduced this quote to me on one of my Facebook posts. Darrin has recently been helping me edit my post, and he thought that this quote from Mahatma Gandhi went well with what I have recently been writing about! He is certainly correct!
Over time, many people have asked me how I am able to keep positive all of the time. Well it can be challenging at times, so I am certainly not positive 100% of the time but I definitely strive to be closer every day. This quote by Mahatma Gandhi really spells out why I choose to be positive as much as possible. If thinking positive is all I need to do to reach my destiny sign me up! It is that easy; what you bring to yourself, you become, what you think about, you become, what you question yourself about, you get answers to.
Mahatma Gandhi’s concept works on the negative side too. The next time you think negative; just think about where that negativity is going to lead you and instead, try to bring a positive out of it. Negativity will guide you to a destiny that you will not desire, so just strive every day to be closer to being 100% positive all of the time, and let your positive life lead you to Your Destiny.
Have a great weekend everyone! Don’t forget to share this with your friends and like my new Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/UPwithmarc
