Make or Mistake (Variety Friday)

large

When we try new things, when we challenge ourselves to the limits, we make mistakes. If you go through life so worried about making a mistake you are only short changing your own potential. Let yourself do the things that are hard. Let yourself make the mistakes and fail. Instead of feeling bad about your mistakes learn from them, become stronger from them.

With our health we all make mistakes, we all skip a work out, or eat the wrong thing. We all get injured or fail to meet our health goals on time. That does not meam to give up and stop, it means to get up, get better push and try harder. I have certainly made a few mistakes in my goals for this month but I bring myself right back on track for success and continue to see results!

Love your goals, love your health, love your life. Have a great weekend.

Meditate to better health

I could give advice but there are far better trained individuals and groups that can really tell you and show you how much meditation can affect your health! Instead I will simply share how meditation has helped me.

What started out as a simple gift of gratitude from a good friend waterfalled into a brand new way of life! I have gone to new places both physically and mentally I have never been before. From a mind that is never without thought to being able to empty my mind of everything for monuments in time.

If I am stressed I can meditate to calm down. If I am sad I can meditate to perk up. I can set my mind to one thought and really feel life’s answers all through my body. You can see how meditation can be healthy right? Some of you may be saying the typical excuse of, “I don’t have time”. Well I am not the first in your life to say that Idea of no time is crap. If you really want something in your life you are going to make it happen and you are going to make time for it to happen.

You can meditate in 5 minutes or several hours. It is all up to you. I am so grateful for meditation coming into my life. It has really made hidden parts of the best of who I am come alive. With my goals of distance, eating better and losing some weight; meditation plays such a healthy role. It is not going to make the pounds disappear but it can make you put the Little Debbie’s down and rethink what you are doing with your life and live healthier.

I do however owe the lose of 15lbs so far to meditation, positivism, gratitude, and hard work of course, but I am not done yet. I heard it takes 21 days to make something routine….it is the 22nd day and I am still going strong on my goals (click here for April goals). This is only one fragment of my life that meditation has benefited it. I owe a lot to meditation period!

Meditation is super easy, take some deep breaths and listen to some really calming music. But seriously look it up try it out.

Check this out!

This April Health month started with the idea to try a new challenge. A challenge to eat better, be more active and loss weight. 2 weeks in I can proudly say I am accomplishing these challenges. My move down here started with the idea to start a new career with something completely different. I accomplished that, by now working in an elementary school! I wanted to try and find work over the summer and boy did I ever accomplish that! I will be working on a cruise ship again but this time up in Alaska for the summer. If I never would have tried working on a cruise ship in the first place, I would have never accomplished working on the cruise ship a 2nd time. Its a once in a life time opportunity for me and now I get to do it again!

Great things can happen in your life all you have to do is TRY and you can ACCOMPLISH anything. Have a great weekend everyone.

Positive Meals

How often do you go out to eat and you feel like you need to finish everything but then later you pay it for with a stomach ache or some gassy bowels? It has happened to all of us for sure. The easiest way to avoid this is simply don’t go out to eat, or save your restaurant nights out for special occasions.

The most positive solution for eating healthy is at home where you can plan your meals. When you plan your meals you are not willy nilly grabbing things at the grocery store. You have a list and know exactly what you need. When you shop off your list is when you start buying things that are fast and easy. You start buying junk food. I am not gonna tell you what you should eat, it is different for all of us but what you should do is plan your meals eat more healthy and erase the need to finish everything. You will find that it actually saves time to plan ahead too!

A healthy meal at home is a positive meal for your body and your mind. Eating healthier and taking the time to plan meals you will find yourself feeling a lot better about who you are. I have planned my meals and it is so beneficial because you can control your portion size too! I am about to go shopping again because I am out of food….That is the best part about positively planned meals, you use everything you buy and when you’re at the store you can buy yourself a healthy snack for the days you just want to eat a little more. For instance, right now I really have no food left but I am really hungry, but It is so easy to fight it when there really is nothing in the house. All I have to do is fight my will power to wait until I go shopping!

This April health month is more so about ways to be healthy of course but a healthy body is a positive body. A nourished body is a more alert body, and stronger body. Ultimately It puts you in a more positive mood.

I have made a handful of goals for this month and I am doing quite well with them.https://upwithmarc.com/2015/04/01/im-no-fool-this-april/ I have stayed away from sugary things and I am eating less. Last week I was 20 miles short of my goal of 50 miles biking, walking or kayaking, But this week I did 70 miles to make up for what I missed. For the record I am now 10 pounds down and I still have a half of month to go. The most positive benefit I am getting from this month is building a routine to continue even after month’s end.

Have a positive and healthy day and I hope you shop well the next time you are at the grocery store.

START (Variety Friday)

A challenge is how a goal starts, the meaning comes when you achieve that goal. The health goals I made to challenge me. Don’t make goals that you will not be challenged by because they will not do anything for you that is meaningful. You want to eat better, make a goal that is tough for you because when you overcome the challenge you will see results. If you want to be more active with your body, set challenging goals to exercise more and your reward is building a routine from accomplishing your goals. That meaningfulness will come when your body starts trimming down and you start feeling better. I am positive you can find some meaningful challenging health goals in your life, all you have to do it START!

Meme Monday (Step…..to better health)

This April’s health month is only 6 days in and already has posed its challenges, so I thought this quote of mine was appropriate for today!

step

When ever you are challenged take it out of your instincts to walk away. When you step forward into your challenges you gain confidence and the healthy reward for completing those challenges. No matter if your challenges are big or small, for your health or not, your result will still effect you positively if you just face your challenges.

Variety Friday (Focus)

This is absolutely right. You focus on losing weight, you will but you will also gain it all back. You focus on changing your life style and being healthy that weight comes off and stays off and you get in even better shape in the process. There are no quick fixes in this world that last, you have to be dedicated to the process to see results.

Here is a nice little positivism spin for you: Don’t focus on not being negative just focus on being positive. It is a formula that works in everything. The more positive you are the better you will feel and the more confident you become that there is more positive things in your future. When you build that positivism routine more positive things start to happen to you!

Have a great weekend,  on Wednesdays I will give you update on my goals. I have certainly hit some challenges but nothing I cannot punch through. Have a great weekend everyone. I am grateful for your following. Stick around this April for more things healthy and positive.

I’m no fool this April

March has come to a close and what a month of Gratitude it was. I am so grateful for the results I had on my Facebook, my Blog, and also with myself. I really like the idea of the month long thing and I decided to do another one this month for all of April!

April will be all about positivism in Health. All month I will be talking about and sharing many Ideas on the subject of health for a more UP (ultra positive) life style. I have set up a few goals for myself that I will list below. Perhaps if you would like you can set up your own health goals to carry out all month long. There is no right or wrong goals. This is about your health and your body. Nobody know your body better then you do!

MY GOALS
– No sweet, desserts, sugary drinks or sugary snacks all month
– One day a week if I want junk food
– No drinking alcohol (not that I do very much anyways :P)
– 50 miles a week biking, walking, or kayaking
– Set meals every day, eating less
– No eating out at restaurants all month

I start this month at a high 274 lbs. Lets see how much I can lose in one month.

With Easter looming, I quickly bought up some candy and ate it all last night, But that is it until May! Why April, you may be wondering? The only answer I have for you is why not?

I hope that this month challenge will set me up to get back to eating healthier and eating less again. I hope that you may be able to come up with some health challenges for you. I look forward to the new month, the new challenges, and the new people I may cross paths with.

Bathtub Meditation

I know I usually post every other Wednesday, but I have so many great things to share with all of you these days. On my quest to love everything life has to offer I have tried many things. The best part about trying new things is it arises ideas and opportunities to do more new things.

I want to draw a quick bath(path!) to what I want to talk about today. I have been exploring different worship ceremonies. The one that is speaking most to me right now has more of a spiritual essences than religious. This spiritual venture has lead me to the ideas of meditation. I explored a few option of meditation and was unsuccessful at the time. I was recently introduced to Carol Kettley Rushton thru a mutual friend. She specializes in Reiki Healing and Spiritual Guidance. She gave me my first card reading ever. This was by far an amazing and enlightening experience. It for sure sparked a new friendship with another positive individual. I told Carol about my meditation attempts and she had suggested to combine the things I love into meditation.

Carol suggested what I will just coin as bathtub meditation. I love relaxing music and I love being in the water so it seemed like a very fitting suggestion. Now I want everyone to visualize the size of their bathtub…. Now picture a 6’2″ person fitting in there! HA! needless to say I fit myself in the tub!

I will tell you what I did, you are welcome to try this or come up with a variation of your own. I made myself a play list to go at least an hour with wordless relaxing music, you can make yours as long or as short as you wish. I played it thru head phones to cancel out any other noises. I ran a very hot bath with some scented bath balls. I turned the lights off so it was completely dark. I got myself in a good position in the tub and played my music. I shut my eye and I began to sweat and imagined that every bead of sweat was a release of thought until I was thoughtless and combining myself with the flow of the music. I just relaxed until the music stopped and IT WAS AMAZING!

This bathtub meditation was one of the most amazing personal positive experiences I have ever had. The music stopped and it actually took some time to come back to reality. I was so relaxed I could barely stand (literally)! Needless to say I slept well and the days to follow were very positive and relaxing as well. If you do try this please let me know how it works out for you.

I would like to show my gratefulness for the events and suggestions and pass on Carol’s information to you. She does so many great things and I definitely plan to go back and try this Reiki Healing with her next time.

If you could do me a great favor go and like her on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/CrystalRanchReikiHealing. Her and I would be very grateful.

Some of the things I have experienced through Carol’s guidance I never believed in before. However, my experience in trying it has brought something in clear focus for me. You will never benefit from something you don’t believe in. You can only benefit from what you do believe in! We should open ourselves up to try new things all our lives, you never know what kind of positive impacts you will encounter.

I hope all of you will check our Carol’s sites. Also, I challenge all of you to show a little faith in something you are skeptical about and see if any good comes from it.

Have a great day and thank you for following me.

FQF Charles Darwin

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.”
Charles Darwin

This is quite an evolutionary quote! Ha, had to be cheesy there for a minute. Some of us stay fit to live a longer more healthy life, some of us will learn everything we possibly can to enrich our lives. But everything comes down to change. When life is streaming by means of our perfection, what if something were to knock that out of place? Can you adapt to starting your life over again? Do you have the mindset take on a new career? Can you walk away from a lost love of your life and find love again someday? If you lose a limb or one of your senses can you filter in how that is going to change your life? What if many of those things are happening all at once?

It is all in your mental and even physical strength for change. Always stay healthy, always keep learning for sure, but always be ready for change. Change and adapting is part of our lives, we have no choice, so we need to learn to embrace those differences. Love your life, Love what is handed to you. Cherish the things that come and go and maybe even come back and go again! Every day we wake up is a new day, don’t waste it, don’t wait. Look at that day how you will, but make the best of it because each minute that passes by, never comes back.

Have a great weekend everyone! Try something different this weekend, see if it changes your life!
