From The Point Of View Of A Gazelle

“From the point of view of a gazelle, the reason why lions are fast is to make us gazelles faster. And the faster I get, the closer I get to my true gazelleness.”

Mira Kirshenbaum, from her book “Everything happens for a reason”

I laughed when she used the made up word “gazelleness.” It is always nice to have a little humor to get your point across! We all have evolved from the environment we live in. Just as the gazelle out runs the lions, human learn to out run life’s challenges. I am not talking about running away from the challenges; I am taking about conquering them and moving past them. In order to understand who you are you need to find and except the reasons why behind all events in your life.

My May reading month has been going well I hope you have set some reading goals too. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Read More In May

Reading-quotes-Write-to-be-understood-speak-to-be-heard-read-to-grow...

I have been challenging myself with writing. I have been speaking out with a more positive lifestyle. Through my journey I have also been inspired to read more as well. It all connects. You read so that you are inspired to write, you speak what you wrote to inspire others and you network with others for more things to read.

This month for me is all about reading! I will set a goal to read at least 20 pages every night for the month of May! Does not sound like much, but that is good because it is my goal! I encourage you, if you are not an avid reader to set some goals to read more. If you read a lot already, set some goals to read even more. Reading is the start of your inspiration, it feeds your heart and mind with new knowledge and great ideas of your own.

With my no sugar, eat better, exercise more month, at an end, I would say it was a success and I lost 22lbs. The really great part is I got myself into better eating and exercising habits for my future as well. I suspect the weight to be coming off still but not as quickly, now I have some reading to do everyday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

William Shakespeare, Famous Quote Friday

william-shakespeare

“As soon go kindle fire with snow, as seek to quench the fire of love with words.”
William Shakespeare

Well some of you never saw that coming did you? I decided to challenge myself. William Shakespeare, a poet and a play writer, has inspired many through the years with his elegant twists of words and well written plays. I was never a huge fan of Shakespeare as I could never understand what he was saying. However, now that my reading and writing are improving I may have to take a gander at his work more now.

In the suns brightness of our powder filled days, the coming of winter is upon us. A cozy fire breathes just as we do and loves necessity is not just the breaths we take with words but the steps we conquer with our hearts. Fire full of snow is no fire as love with only words is just a story without your actions. There is love in words but there is lasting love within your feet as you step ahead.

That was my explanation of Shakespeare’s quote. Not too shabby I would say! Basically what I have interpreted from his quote is that you cannot fuel a fire with snow. Likewise you cannot achieve true love with only your words. His creative writing even though it is hard to interpret, amazes me. There are so many ways to convey the same idea to people and there are so many ways to receive that idea. The same with love; There are many ways to love and to show love and there are many ways to receive it and to be grateful for it.

Zig Ziglar Famous Quote Friday

“Anything worth doing was worth doing poorly – until I could learn to do it well.”

Zig Ziglar

zig-ziglar-ss

Such great words from one of the greatest motivational speakers ever. I think I said this before but I will say it again; Zig Ziglar, up until the day he passed away was reading 3 hours a day. That is impressive but that is also how he was able to impress all of us!

There are many things we want to try in life. For some of us there are many things we try and don’t do very well.  There are many of us who will give up and move on. Been there done that, tried it now it time to move on to something new. How many of you have done really poorly with something you truly love doing? Maybe you are terrible at golf but you absolutely love the game. Maybe you just graduated college and you are having trouble in your first career job. You are doing poorly but you have that drive to not give up! Don’t give up, stick it out and try again and again. Try it as many times as you need to until you learn to do it well.

I used to be terrible at grammar; you may be treated to some of those errors in my post today. 🙂 I keep writing though. The more I write the better I get. I don’t have to be full of myself to see through time and over 100 posts later that my writing is improving. I am enjoying writing and more and more people seem to enjoy it as well. With this blog experience I just jumped right in. I know more people are going to respect and get more out of my writing with perfect grammar, but until I reach a point of perfection this will have to do. You know that perfection can never be achieved right? The great thing to be motivated by this is, there is always something to improve on, something you can do better. “Practice makes perfect”, just as we have heard all our lives and perfection is what you make of it. Perfection is not a stopping point, it is a milestone for what it coming up next.

Think about it, what are you doing in your life right now that needs improvement? Are you willing to keep doing it until you see improvements? Are you willing to keep doing it if you do not see improvements right away? This is one of my new all time favorite quotes and I hope it is something you can use in your life as well.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for your support and following. Be sure to give your friends a chance to see this too, please share my blog with them.

This weekend I am going rock climbing with the Boy Scouts. I am not very graceful or skilled with it yet but I am going to do it again and again anyways. I do have plenty of motivation, I love Boy Scouts, I love my troop, and I was never known to quit. A lot of  the boys look up to me and I need to set an example for them to not give up on things they love in their lives.

Confucius, Famous Quote Friday

“No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.”

Confucius

Confucius03

Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher. He carried strong family and friend loyalty and he was respectful of all ages. He carried out many ancient Chinese traditions.  He was the originator of the Golden Rule, “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.”

I very well could have used the Golden Rule to talk about today, as it is a spectacular rule but I find myself relating to this other quote a little more today.  The quote is pretty straight forward. You need to make time to read,  or ignorance will take over. Reading is so important in our lives. The more you read the more you know. The more insightful you can be.

Reading is where your new creative ideas will come from.  You can learn so much from what you are reading and so much about yourself in the process. Now what you read is up to you. Novels, Non-Fiction, Magazines, News articles; you can read any number of things but to make more time for it you just have to do it. You have to find something you enjoy reading and build a routine with it. Read in the morning, read in the evening, read on your breaks at work or anytime. The success you will find in your life from reading will be immeasurable to anything else. If you do not already have something you read regularly, I suggest you go to the library and start to find something that inspires you. Everyday,Start, Continue, and never finish reading.

Have a great weekend everyone. Don’t forget to share this with your friends. 🙂

Thank you

“Being yourself is all it takes. If you want to impress someone, don’t be someone else just be yourself.”
Selena Gomez

Everyone knows Selena Gomez. Started out on “Barney and Friends” and now she is a famous actress, singer and fashion designer. She is 21 now and I wish I could date when she was quoted. Her words are so undemanding but very profound at the same time. Receiving what you want, getting where you want to be and being with who you want can all certainly fall under simply being yourself. What better person to be though? Originality is so important. For me I don’t want to be defined as part of a stereotyped group of people, I want to be defined as Marc Meyer! In this case I would much like http://www.upwithmarc.com to be seeping through every way possible of who I am! Positivism is taking over my life and I just want to share it with others. Some can’t handle the ultra positivism but those that can continue to motivate me again and again.

.

Who out there are we trying to impress and for what reason? If you are impressing people by doing something that is not in your nature you realize you have to keep doing that? Are you willing to keep doing something that you don’t feel 100% about just for the sake of your image? You want people to enjoy who you are when you are not even trying. Build up your friends, followers and audience with your own thoughts,  actions and interests. This concept of being yourself is so simple and so easy, I am not sure why people choose to follow the paths of others.

.

Be yourself today and every day. Make a lasting impression on the world with your life! Stand out by being original not someone we already know. LOVE YOUR LIFE, treat it as such!

.

This is my 99th post, I am so excited for the post I have lined up for Wednesday, my 100th post! be sure to check it out.
